Severe pain in upper front teeth after tartar removal.

I had my cleaning three weeks ago, and the hygienist was very super aggressive, applying a lot of pressure while removing tartar from my upper front tooth. Since then, I’ve been experiencing severe pain, sensitivity and soreness. I went back to the dentist’s office, and they took an X-ray, which revealed a crack in my tooth. Could excessive pressure during tartar removal cause a tooth to crack?

Unlikely. There is a higher chance that the crack was concealed by the calculus. If covered by calculus, it sometimes prevents sensitivity. Now the crack is exposed.
See if the dentist can do a filling in the area.
