Pediatric use of laughing gas

Hi, i took my son to the childrens dentist today. He had two teeth worked on and caps put on.
They had him on laughing gas at around 10:20 a.m.
About 11:30 during working on him, he fell asleep and we could not wake him up.
We tried and tried and dentist ended up using a salt or something to wake him up (obviously he was stressed at this point so he acted)
I did see the dentist turn something down at maybe 11:00 a.m. (im thinking this was the gas)
I don't know if the dentist messed up or what happened im just trying to figure this out.
Im pissed if they did because after the smelling salt or whatever he used he finished the procedure which obviously was horrible bc they had to wake him up like that so he was screaming and even peed himself. If anyone can help me find out what might have happened let me know.

It is difficult to give an opinion here without knowing the concentration of the gas the dentist used. How old is your child?
