Palate expander popped and is causing extreme pain.

My palate expander hasn't really caused me issues until tonight while I was attempting to make my nightly turn. I placed the turning tool into the hole and, before I could begin turning, the expander made a loud popping sound. This loud pop was followed by sharp pain in the roof of my mouth. Upon investigation I have found that one of the bars attached to the screws fastening the expander in is dug so far into the roof of my mouth that I cannot even touch it with my tongue. It hurts so bad I cannot sleep. Any advice would be so very appreciated.

You will need to contact your dentist/orthodontist for an emergency appointment. They might need to remove it and place it in again, if it is not damaged.
