Pain after retreat Is it inflammation from high filling, breaching the apex of root, or persistent infection?

Hi all!

Three days ago (Monday) I had an 11 year old root canal retreated to widen and lengthen the canals due.

After the retreat was done a temporary composite filling was placed. I told the dentist that it was too high but she was dismissive and said it would flatten. Once the anesthesia wore off it was extremely painfull in the jaw for both the treated tooth and the one it was striking and it was clearly too high.

The next morning (Tuesday) I went to another dentist who ground the composite down and the main pain immediately stopped and I could close my teeth normally. However the jaw is still swollen a bit. I consider that dentist my personal angel. My life got so much better at the moment she finished!

That same morning I boarded an 11 day transatlantic cruise. Our only stop is tomorrow in Madeira. If there is urgent action needed I can try to seek it there.

I still have some swelling in the jaw under the treated tooth. I am trying to determine if this is:
1-inflammation from the time that the filling was striking the other tooth and it will just subside
2-infection and I should start back on the Amoxy (I had been taking for 3 weeks before the procedure, but stopped as I assumed the treatment removed the infection)
3- that the retreatment went TOO far and went through the bottom of the tooth. I suppose if so then there is no action to take.
4- Something completely different
5- a little of everything

I am attaching the after X-ray. I have the before as well but I didnt think it would be useful. However let me know if it would add any helpful contect!I am very grateful for any suggestions, observations, opinions, or hypotheses. THANK YOU!!!

On the after the x-ray, it seems like there was some infection, which is why I assume the root canal was re-done. The root canal looks good on the x-ray. I just think the tooth needs some time to settle. If you don't have any severe pain, then I would suggest just giving it some time. If the tooth becomes more painful however, I would suggest maybe taking another course of antibiotics.

If the swelling persists beyond a few days without improvement or worsens (accompanied by fever or increased pain), seeking urgent care in Madeira would be important. Monitoring symptoms closely will help determine if further intervention is necessary. It may be beneficial to consult with a local dentist during your cruise if symptoms do not improve.
Some degree of inflammation post-treatment can be expected and may resolve on its own, signs pointing towards infection warrant further evaluation and possible re-initiation of antibiotic therapy.
