New crown with metal showing

I’ve had a crown fitted today. I accepted the risks of being able to see the metal in time if my gums receeded etc, however I am disappointed that this is already the case from the beginning and not just at the top as picture shows. I did query this and was told the only way around it was to pay for a full porcelain crown. I was just wondering if this looks normal or whether the crown is not fitted properly. Thanks
