Last upper tooth needs root canal?

I’m an 83 year old with an upper removable plate. Which was anchored by two teeth. I had one extraced two weeks ago. And now pain remains and onlined, the symptoms suggest the remaining tooth beside it just at my lips edge is in need of a root canal. I have an apptment Monday to have a tooth added to my plate for my upper but now I wonder what to do if it is worth the expense of trying to save the remaining tooth or just remove it too. And just have one new plate I live in Canada and have no dental insurance Should I do the root canal. Or just remove it ?

Extract; a waste of $ for an RCT.
