I was looking at my tongue in the mirror up close and noticed this. Is this normal? It is only present on the left side of my tongue. Could it be from accidentally biting on that side of my tongue in the past? If so, I would think it should have healed by now. I don't feel any pain, and I eat normally.

I also went to the dentist last month, but they didn't mention anything about it. I'm not sure if they even saw it. The only things they did were look at xrays, periocharting, and made me stick my tongue out forward. I'm worried they didn't do my oral cancer screening test thoroughly since they didn't ask to move my tongue to different sides to check the whole tongue. Should I go back to the dentist to bring this up as a specific concern? *Info: I do not smoke or drink.

Does not look cancerous. Could be an area of past or current trauma. Next time you go for a check-up, ask your dentist to check your teeth and fillings on that side for any sharp edges. In the mean time, keep an eye on it.
