Is there anything I can do?

I might have to have a large silver filling removed and I asked the dentist if he would take precautions using a dental dam among other things and he refuses to use a dental dam because it gets on his way when a tooth is being prepped for a crown. I don’t feel comfortable with that but I don’t know what to do except go to another dentist.

What are you worried about in particular? Which tooth is it?
Is he also prepping the crown on the same tooth in the same appointment?

It is tooth #18. It has a large silver filling that is 50 years old. I am worried about decay under it. I also don't want to leave a partially filed down amalgam filling in my mouth because it could crack. I want to remove the whole thing and I don't want to swallow tiny pieces of mercury while he's doing it. It's bad enough I will be exposed to mercury vapor because he would not be giving me oxygen as recommended in SMART removal protocol.
