IMPLANTS: Is bone grafting a rip-off and/or high profit item?

When asking for a quote on an implant, offices list grafting as a whopping $500-$1,000. Yet it only took one minute to place them so that charge is not labor. Is grafting material/parts that expensive?


So far all my friends who had an implant, "needed" bone grafting. When is bone grafting NOT needed?
