I wondered if you might be able to help me. I have had two upper root canals and they have never felt right, one in particular has always ached and had pain with tapping etc. It goes through cycles where it calms down. I was ok living with this pain as nothing showed up on x-rays or ct scans and the root canals were done by an endodontist. Even specialists looked at the radiographs and nothing looked abnormal.

I was willing to accept maybe I have a facial pain disorder however, the beginning of the year I was having pain with hot foods. It would send a shooting pain above one or both of the root canal teeth. Now it's aching more and more but a recent x-ray shows nothing at the apex of the two teeth or the surrounding neighboring teeth.

What would cause this? Cold does not bother the teeth and I can chew, while they have never felt quite normal after the root canal to chew now they are decent with chewing. It is the hot that is setting this off and while it feels like it's right above my root canal premolar it might be the other root canal premolar I can't pinpoint. I am scared of a brewing infection what would you do?

Good day

With root canal treatments, there are a lot of factors that influence their successful outcome.
Missed pulpal horns, missed lateral canals, short or overfilled canals, cracks etc could lead to post-op complications.
I understand that you already had a cbct scan done? Usually most of these issues should have been picked up on such a scan.
It might be a good option to seek a second opinion from another endodontist, and consider re-treatment of the affected tooth. If re-treatment is not an option, then the only option is to maybe consider implant treatment.

Hello.
Do you have any post op xrays with you?
Dental sensitivity to hot or cold is not normal when you get a root canal unless there where missing canals not treated during the procedure...

Hi,
I am going through the same thing. Did you find any solution or relief?

I have had root canal on lower molar and still have the same symptoms of tapping and biting pressure pain on it. Taken cbct scan and nothing found. Don't know the reason why it's still hurting for tapping and biting pressure even after root canal and crown. Please let me know if you find any answers.
