Gauging Severity of Cavity

Very recently, I started feeling this jagged edge on a top row tooth where the corner seemed to get chipped off revealing a blackened cavity. Is there a way to tell how serious it is, and is there anything I should be doing or not doing with it until I see dentist?

You should not attempt anything yourself as you could make things worse. Just see a good dentist and stop worrying. These things can be fixed.

Get thee to a dentist. The real depth of the hole will be much larger than you think, and if you wait for pain it may not be easy to fix.
