Dental impressions can be taken for a large number of different dental procedures. These can include (but not limited to) crowns, dentures, nightguards, veneers, etc.

Depending on why the dental impression was taken, it may take more/less appointments.

If you can expand on what procedure was being done, then it would be easier to give you a rough idea about future appointments.
