Dead wisdom tooth & pain

Hi everyone, I’m Jess! I have had a terrible dental fear and have missed regularly visiting my dentist for some years - bad of me I know before anyone comes at me!
Anyway, over Christmas 2024 I started to experience some pain in one side of my mouth, both upper and lower jaws. I wasnt able to pinpoint which tooth specifically it was coming from and the pain became so severe I decided I needed to go see my dentist. So I booked an appointment and went to see her. She had a look at my mouth and told me one of my upper wisdom teeth had broken and was dead so needed removing. The pain I had been experiencing randomly stopped at this point.
She did the referral to the oral surgeon but this was rejected due to not being able to get a good X-ray and I now have to go to the hospital for a X-ray. I then went back to see her a second time as I noticed a salty taste in my mouth to which she said it is because I am now following a proper cleaning routine (mouthwash, water flossing and brushing twice a day) so I now can notice every little change in my mouth. She had another look for signs of infection but sent me on my way with no visible signs. A few days later I saw a hygienist who completed a test thorough clean of my whole mouth and she never mentioned any signs of infection etc.
I’ve had no pain for about two weeks, no swelling or anything, sometimes a little jaw ache/discomfort but nothing I’ve needed painkillers for. Then out of the blue, this weekend I started having pain again and it’s been playing on my mind that this could be an infection or a hidden infection. Again, it’s not in one specific area but it is the same side of my broken, dead wisdom tooth.
Could anyone give me any advice or input to what this could be? I can’t keep affording to visit the dentist each time I get this pain for her to send me away with nothing but I’m a very nervous person when it comes to teeth and of corse Google tells you if you have an infection which isn’t treated it could spread, you could end up with sepsis and of corse die. So I’m sure you can understand I am freaking out!
Appreciate any help/advice

I’ve also tried cold and warm compresses, painkillers, salt water rinses and my cleaning regime.

Thank you!

Experiencing dental fear is common, addressing issues like broken wisdom teeth promptly can prevent more severe complications down the line.
while there may not currently be visible signs of infection based on recent evaluations, the recurrence of pain warrants further investigation through imaging and possibly additional consultations with dental professionals.

it’s understandable to feel overwhelmed by dental pain and its potential implications such as infections leading to sepsis the best course of action involves seeking professional help rather than relying solely on home remedies. A thorough examination by a qualified dentist will provide clarity on your condition and appropriate treatment options.

I had been seen by my dentist twice about it and every time she said no infection. I went back after this post and she didn’t even look at my teeth just gave me antibiotics. The pain is pretty much gone now so it’s quite bad she had told me before that I had no infection!
