Can you reverse a root canal?

A couple years ago I was dumb enough to let a dentist give me a root canal. I think it was unnecessary. Ever since then though I have chronic bad breath and have been diagnosed with autoimmune issues. I don't really understand what a root canal is to be honest. I guess there is a dead tooth in my mouth? is there anything that can be done besides pulling out the entire tooth? I wish I had realized what a root canal was and I probably would have said no.

There is nothing to suggest that the root canal is to blame. The auto-immune issues is most likely due something else that is unrelated. The bad breath could be due to other decayed teeth, the auto-immune disease or even the medication that is used to treat the auto-immune disease.
Do you have an x-ray of the tooth?
