In 2002, I had my wisdom teeth removed. Immediately after the surgery this is what I looked like:

I was 26 at the time, heathy and active with no family history of facial paralysis or Bell's Palsy. My dentist said it had nothing to do with my wisdom tooth surgery. I remember waking up in the middle of the extraction of my right lower tooth, I started yelling because it hurt, at which point my dentist injected additional numbing agent.
I recovered most of my facial movement within about 24 hours but I still have a noticeable drooping of my eye and mouth on the right side of my face along with persistent tingling and numbness along my right cheek and jaw.
Two questions:
1. Was this a result of my dentist's actions during surgery?
2. What are my options for treatment?
It's been getting worse as I age and I'm at the point that I'm willing to try medical intervention.
