Abscess or ulcer?

"jaw aching" has turned into localised gum pain with this small pale patch. It bleeds when I brush it and its very tender to the touch. Does it look like an ulcer or an abscess?

Looks like an apthous ulcer. Will disappear in about 7-10 days. Treatment of these types of lesions are only symptomatic, meaning taking something for the pain, until it resolves. You can try a mouth rinse of throat spray as well, with antipyretic properties.
